Ask HN: Is there a "mouse" for parallel work?
The mouse was built for doing one thing at a time. One cursor that navigates a rich virtual world to accomplishing things in series.
With agents my work now all happens in parallel. But the input devices we use hasn't changed yet.
What I want is not more buttons and tabs in the pixel world, but some new tactile device in the real world to jump between different virtual workflows. I want feedback about all my parallel streams of work, and direct access to them from my physical world, without dragging a cursor through many steps of virtual navigation.
And no, I don't want to learn herdr's shortcuts, on top of mac's shortcuts, on top of a keyboard not meant for this. I want a simple handheld device designed specifically for this.
My mental concept car [0] for this is a cube which lives in your palm where every stream of work is represented by a physical LED button. Tap a button to jump into the stream. Hold a button to talk to the agent in that stream. Buttons pulses when the agent needs you.

- perilunar 2mo agoAre you asking, or are you trying to drum up interest in a product?
- ckmar 2mo agoPikaCube is a thought experiment "solution" with a website one-shot from claude code. I don't want to make something like it, I want to buy something like it.

- ckmar 2mo agoNice, I had seen that. Ideally it wouldn't be something that sits on my desk. I want to hold it and talk to it and build spacial awareness with it. But fits many of the goals. I'll have to give it a try!
