AI Under Trump's Control: Can France Still Avoid Digital Dependence?
- dataflow 3mo agoDid AI write this?
- dgellow 3mo agoThat looks like pure AI slop...
- laurentlof 3mo agoNo youtube and my search
- thirtygeo 3mo agoAll the low quality style hallmarks are there
- laurentlof 3mo agoNo youtube and my search
- j0k3r_85 3mo agoIt certainly has the cadence of an AI article. The author may have pulled together their ideas and put a structure in place but this sounds very much AI authored. The sentence structure and the breathlessness seem to match what I see when I read AI authored posts.
- tchalla 3mo agoUS / foreign entity control, not Trump
- laurentlof 3mo agoYes and no
- daniel_iversen 3mo agoA cool detail in the article that you can look up in the news is the French government investing €650m in AI, including technology (not just implementation, training and licensing it seems). Hope some of it is for further funding and equity in Mistral, and that other European countries follow suit. Even better if there was a great non-profit or B-Corp European alternative to the US and Chinese frontier/SOTA labs.
- laurentlof 3mo agoYes
- aniokono 3mo agoWhat's the direction they are taking?
- ikidd 3mo agoIf they keep persecuting Anthropic as they have, I wouldn't be surprised to see them move offshore. If there's ever been an industry that is mobile, it would be AI.
- dgellow 3mo agoHow is it mobile? Their employees, capital, and hardware is in the US
- consumer451 3mo agoThe next natural move in the modern USA is "exit visas" - you know, like it is in Cuba, and as it was once was behind the entire Iron Curtain. FML, and the entire reason that we moved to the USA was to escape this crap. How did this happen?
- 627467 3mo agoThere's already an exit tax, not just in the US
- consumer451 3mo agoTax is one thing, permission to physically leave is entirely another issue. In many countries like "Iron Curtain" back in the day, or Cuba now, or China now... yeah, the USA feels close. If Exit Visa does not come up on your search look up Exit Ban. If we extrapolate Fable 5 export bans, why not ban the US-citizen researchers from export? It's what the CCP does for theirs'.
- 627467 3mo agoI know what an exit visa is. Anyone with any contact with cuba, venezuela, china in the past decades would know. To believe that export control = path to exit visa is an insult to those who actually lived those restrictions and ignorant of past export control restrictions.
