Where Does Cloudflare Think I Am?
- cozzyd 9mo agoIr gets my zip code right but doesn't geolocate it properly. My zip code is a 0.2 sq miles.

- qhwudbebd 9mo agoIt claims London E1W for my IPv4 and IPv6 RIPE PI space, and the same location/postcode for my EE home broadband. Generic 'London data centre' postcode? Or the location of the nearest Cloudflare POP, maybe? (Whois on the PI blocks shows a correct postcode some distance from London FWIW.) [Edit: same location and postcode for a Vodafone UK v4 address too.]

- wolvoleo 9mo ago500km off for me :) Google is much better at this. They always open the map right where I am on my pc (Which does not have gps or WiFi, only internet and I don't allow location in the browser)
- dextercd 9mo agoInteresting! On the Google search results page at the bottom there's a city name + "From your IP address" link. Clicking it shows a map with a circled region. It seems to match with what Google maps opens by default. It's a little less accurate than Cloudflare in my case.
- wolvoleo 9mo agoThanks! I didn't know that. I never use Google search directly anymore, always through SearXNG. So I hadn't noticed. It's indeed about 1km away from my actual location. Not bad. I'm about 500m outside the circle.

- nanoxide 9mo agoCorrect country (in the EU) but off by hundreds of kilometers. I find it rarely to be correct whenever I get a "new login from..." mail from Google or others.
- AndrewDucker 9mo agoShows the town my ISP is in. Which seems like an odd approach.
