Psychotic delusions evolving to incorporate phones and social media algorithms
- DaveZale 10mo ago"The authors noted that the distinction between reality and delusion can be complicated by the actual capabilities of modern technology. Real-world algorithms do track user behavior to serve targeted content. This can sometimes mimic the experience of having one’s mind read or being watched." Do these researchers conducting this study know about cookies, browser fingerprinting and how data brokers operate? How about AI users injected into social media? I've seen two cases of temporary but disturbing delusions in extended family members who were using that really big social network that wants users to eventually have 5-15 "AI friends" - and my conclusion is that social media can be very hazardous to heavy users.
