Show HN: Shorter – search for shorter versions of your domain
- GabrielMMMM 11mo agoWhat if, instead of shorter versions, the tool focused on SEO optimization, for example, you enter a business name or idea, and it generates a highly SEO optimized domain name suggestion?
- echoangle 11mo agoDoes the actual domain itself affect search engine placement? Are shorter domains better, or what makes a domain good for SEO?
- mkoryak 11mo agoNothing shorter than dogself.com ?!
- merelysounds 11mo agoIMHO it’s better to just use .com . By now .com is so popular that anything different is harder to memorize or even seen as untrustworthy (both by users and sometimes by platforms too).
- aanesn 11mo agoagree for sure, i just think it's sometimes cool to have different tlds for like small projects and mby links
- rammer 11mo agoNot goood, says buy to domains that obviously aren't available. Perhaps in the rush to send people to the affiliate site.
- aanesn 11mo agoyea sorry about that it's just dns lookups for now, i'll try to switch to the dynadot api for availability mby just give me a sec
- Bratmon 11mo ago> it's just dns lookups for now It's not even doing that- It wanted me to "Buy Now" google.com
- techsystems 11mo agoSo just reword it to 'check'
- Bratmon 11mo agoWarning in advance: This website adds a browser history entry for each keystroke, so if you plan on using your history for something, best to steer clear.
- slig 11mo agoNice! It's called "Domain hack" [1]. [1]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_hack https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_hack
