- Crye 1y agoThe rhetoric is there. See Randy Ogles (R-Tenn) call for Mamdani to be denaturalized.
- tombert 1y agoYeah that’s what I was referring to. I saw that tweet a few hours ago. https://x.com/RepOgles/status/1938301392416084150 https://x.com/RepOgles/status/1938301392416084150
- ejoso 1y agoThis is very probably trolling and fear mongering.
- watwut 1y agoEverything conservatives and Trump do starts as "trolling". What you call "trolling" is actually "floating the idea and figuring out how to make them happen for the first time".
- tombert 1y agoYeah, Trump was initially “joking” about trying for a third term. Now he’s serious about it. Who would have predicted this except for every single person who has ever seen Trump speak about anything ever?
- tombert 1y agoIt's possible, though at this level I'm not 100% sure it matters if it's trolling or sincerely held belief, because it's a pretty clear and obvious statement that "even the citizens aren't safe". Also, he's a fucking politician. The country shouldn't be run the same way as KiwiFarms.
- prime_ursid 1y agoNo serious attempts yet but there are seeds being sown by high-profile right wingers to manufacture consent: https://www.mediamatters.org/immigration/right-wing-media-campaign-denaturalize-and-deport-american-citizens https://www.mediamatters.org/immigration/right-wing-media-ca...
