Let’s not conflate LLM’s with AI. LLM’s are a kind of AI that can be a software engineer’s assistant, at best. But the degree of hype is undermining belief in AI among many professionals who the hypesters claim are going to be replaced. No, this iteration is not going to replace doctors or engineers. But the degree to which the hype train wants to do so is alarming.

- ken47 1y agoSearch engineering forums online. If you haven’t found the walls, you haven’t been trying.
- jcims 1y agoThe only question for me is whether or not the walls are moving in the direction of greater actualized capability. I can't prove it but I *think* the answer there is yes.
- xigency 1y agoHave you tried creating your own programming language? How about solving unsolved frontier problems in mathematics? Ever written a book that won a Pulitzer prize? How many languages do you know? As someone who was born ambitious I find this technology tepid at best.
