Theoretical question: what happens if he doesn’t do what the courts order, and the congress is too afraid to impeach him?
- neogodless 1y agoIs it a theoretical question? This is no longer a representative democracy, but an autocracy.
- sorcerer-mar 1y agoCourts can deputize other people to enforce their orders
- timbit42 1y agoDo you think that will happen? Any idea how long?
- sorcerer-mar 1y agoI think if this happens it would be well after shit has very visibly hit the fan. I.e. when militias take up arms by themselves, perhaps a court would “authorize” their actions with something like this. I don’t think any judge will voluntarily be the spark that ignites a civil war
- CodeMage 1y agoWhat happens? This. This happens, the things we're seeing. He's already defying multiple court orders and the Congress is not impeaching him. Oh, some of the politicians are introducing articles of impeachment, but you can see quite clearly that this won't go anywhere.
