A cross-section illustration reveals the happenings of Kowloon Walled City
- polotics 2y agotoo bad that with this having been knocked down in the early 90's, there won't be any 3D scan of the thing...
- peteforde 2y agoA really good documentary (in German, but you'll get the drift) with lots of casual, non-sensational footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-rj8m7Ssow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-rj8m7Ssow
- netsharc 2y agoHaving this in a Google Maps-esque interface with the ability for users to annotate and comment on any point would be interesting. Another creative idea would be to have a story mode, i.e. snapshots of this cross-section at the next hour/day/evening/etc.. It'd be like a comic strip but on each panel there'll be 5000 stories to follow up from the previous one. Hah, now I'm thinking about the world as such a comic strip.

- MrDOS 2y agoA bit gauche that “the full panorama” link hotlinks the CDN of a dead social media site (cohost) without citation. Far more information about the print can be found in the corresponding post there: https://cohost.org/belarius/post/6677850-architectural-cross https://cohost.org/belarius/post/6677850-architectural-cross.
- aspenmayer 2y agoAlso relevant, as you alluded to, cohost is now read-only and will be shutting down at the end of 2024. https://cohost.org/staff/post/7611443-cohost-to-shut-down https://cohost.org/staff/post/7611443-cohost-to-shut-down
