  As professionals though, you are paid by outcome not process. If plumber comes and works hard but doesn’t fix my problem, I won’t be praising them no matter how hard they worked. Process must be internally valued by a professional so they can keep improving their craft, but no one will reward you for it until you show results.

    True, in a commercial transaction, but within friends and family, praising effort is still important.
