I dont use such software but porting it to linux makes me want to buy it just to thank them for making it available on linux.

  Not the worst idea! I have mixed views on presonus. They have made great gear! I use a few bits of it! I haven’t used their software, outside of their drivers. Drivers have been great! But they dropped support for their FireWire gear on mac after 10.14 which was super sad. You can still plug in a 1st gen iPod via FireWire -> TB2 -> TB3 -> m3 mac and sync it with tunes today. But my very nice mixer doesn’t have drivers for macOS. I hope they are better with their other software offerings.

Not sure about the latest releases, but the Studio One v1 was written by a bunch of the original Pro Tools developers, and it was really, really good. It's also way cheaper than PT, and as an added bonus you don't have to deal with Avid, which is second only to adobe regarding anti-consumer practices.

  I actually started recording with S1 v1 in my teens because I got it for cheap. After some longer breaks, I kept coming back to it (and buying updates) - it really is good! Compared with the Ableton workflow my bandmates are using nowadays, I still prefer S1.

    IIRC they were from the Presonus side, the original startup they bought as the basis for the sound engine was indeed ex-steinberg people.

Requires Ubuntu 23.04 and Wayland, so not necessarily applicable to many Linux users, but great to see more professional software being ported to Linux in any case! Note: Studio One is a DAW (digital audio workstation). Other offerings that exist on Linux include Ardour, Bitwig and Reaper.

      FL Studio is its own thing. If you're used to the workflow there, every other DAW will feel very (very) different. That said, Bitwig is probably the least orthodox of the others, and so although it is really nothing like FL Studio, that might be a place to start. ps. I'm the lead developer of Ardour.

This is not a curious comment, but I'll make it anyway. I spent some time clicking around on that website, and I couldn't figure out how much the product(s) cost. All I could do was "sign up."   Yeah, that bit was annoying. They also used to offer a download of their free basic version. Now you have to download a trial version to get access to the free version apparently.. https://shop.presonus.com/studio-one https://shop.presonus.com/studio-one

Installed it on one of the PCs in the studio when it released. No issues getting it connected to Jack. It was able to see VST plugins but no GUI. This limitation was pointed out in the release notes. The bundled plugins worked without issue. It didn't function correctly with the control surface bits of the ioStation 24C either. Still, I do hope we see official support for their thunderbolt interfaces on Linux.

I've used Studio One for over 3 years now on Windows. Fantastic DAW software and the dev team is very responsive. Can't wait for the full version on Linux.
