CashApp's monolith is still called Franklin today.
- therein 3y agoYup, Banklin and Franklin. Bob Lee will be missed.
- bhupy 3y agoEx-Square chiming in (I fondly remember Project Franklin), he was also arguably the inventor of modern dependency injection as we know it! https://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=330 https://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=330
- skybrian 3y agoThere was PicoContainer before Guice. Maybe it didn't count as modern though.
- KingOfCoders 3y agoUsed Pico for quite a lot, loved it.
- oezi 3y agoPicoContainer was absolutely awesome.
- tirsen 3y agoThanks! (I wrote the first version...)
- oweiler 3y agoWow! This is also the best description of DI I've ever read.
- lchengify 3y agoWow. Ok. Thank you for sharing this. Guice was one of my first "aha" moments at Google about how modern Java could be written without a million XML files. I later took Guice to multiple other companies and projects back when I used to sling Java code for a living. It seems like such a small thing, but it had a huge influence on my career right out of college.
