Ask HN: Is Germany also facing great resignation in IT?
I am job hunting in Germany and wondering if its a right time or not? Like U.S, is Germany also facing great resignation?
- junon 5y agoGermany is always crying out for developers. There is never a "bad time" for developers here.
- taubek 5y agoThere is high demand for IT related people in Germany. It has been like this for some time, and by the looks of it will continue to be. Cost of living has gone up lately but salaries in IT sector has been trying to match those costs. It all comes down to you negotiation skills.
- wreath 5y agoIt's kind of usual for the beginning of the year. But also a lot of people don't want to go back to the office and already relocated elsewhere during the pandemic. Where I currently work we're experiencing this as well, half my team resigned and I'll be next.

- chefkoch 5y agoNo, not like in the US. I guess the main factor is that the pay ranges are much smaller for the jobs accross companies. You won't get a 30% raise by jumping ship, unless you were severly underpaid. Also there is a glass ceiling for ICs (90k€ -100k€) that is really hard to break through with the exception of very few faang jobs.
- hollowpython 5y agoI went from 65k to 87k to 170k in about three years. This is total compensation (only counting real shares, no virtual stock) and I haven't worked for FAANG. The 170k company is a big corp though.
