I don't think it's as bad as that. You can still create a local account and login to your PC without a callback to Microsoft.

You can still create a local account and login to your PC without a callback to Microsoft.
- sundvor 5y agoAnd that way you get the username you want too, instead of the first five letters of your name/email. "Johnathan Smith" => "johna" == yuck.
