Is there a list online somewhere of all the crazy shit that can legally happen to you in the US? How long you can be detained for, what data can be extracted from you, and so on? Like if you had a really bad day and the authorities exercised all of the powers over you they legally have.
- tmpz22 6y agoThey can put a knee on your neck for seven minutes and 43 seconds until you are dead and be home watching TV The next day.

- greggturkington 6y agoI think they got him confused with the officers that unloaded 20 rounds in a no-knock warrant, killing an EMT not involved in the investigation, and resulting in no evidence
- gruez 6y agoOnly after public outcry. What do you think would have happened if there weren't anyone watching?
- standardUser 6y agoIn that rare instance charges were filed, but there is yet to be a conviction. There is a vast system in place to protect police officers in these situations, up to and including federal law.

- Shared404 6y agoPretty sure this is called whataboutism. Just because some other places are worse A) Doesn't mean some are better in this regard. B) Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make it better here.

- wonder_er 6y ago*White, middle-class men who speak English as a first language have more rights in the USA than almost every country on earth. As you deviate from that list, the list of "rights" rapidly peters out.
- tgsovlerkhgsel 6y agoThey can accuse any and all property you bring with you of a crime and keep it, with very limited recourse for you.
