You're being downvoted, but I agree. In the information age public school teaching is a glorified jobs program.

  ...daycare program. But it doesn't have to be this way. And that's what makes it so sad. One look at an 8th grade primer (math, language arts, geography, history, any will do) from the late 19th Century or early 20th Century and it is clear American public education took a very wrong turn somewhere along the line.
