  Not if you need to maintain any contact fields other than the (short) canned list Highrise offers. We could not use Highrise because of this. (I know nothing about Rails, but I wondered whether it might be related to their inability -- if it's not just refusal -- to add a feature that their users, judging by the forums when I was evaluating, were clamoring for.) I was frustrated by the 37s attitude. "We don't comment on development plans" was a common refrain from their staff. So... no hints on where you're heading or whether there's any plan to add a feature I so desperately need? And the focus on simplicity over suitability to customer needs was also surprising. "Use it or don't" seems to be their take on customer relations. It's their business and they can run it how they want and, yes, I can think of lots of rationalizations for the way they do things, but they're not a company I want to do business with. Maybe, as an earlier poster wrote, 92% of their customers are happy. I wonder how many potential customers they've lost. Maybe it's a good thing: It leaves a place in the market for a better product, and maybe a better company.

    We reported a security flaw. They responded as if it was a feature request. We asked whether it would be fixed. They declined to discuss development plans. There's lots not to like about their attitude (look how they handled their last outage), but we're still customers.

They are masters at presenting information properly in terms of visual layout. But the stuff always struck me as ... how to say, "fashionista" in that it makes a fetish out of obsessing over details that have almost no yield value, ie, their impact in the final scheme of things on your finished work result is minimal, if at all. But just in case you didn't realize that using the right sort of bullet point or putting one option to the left of the other was the be-all end-all of life itself, they constantly remind you with their writing, which to me varies wildly from intuitively useful, if not always applicable outside their own companies, to vastly oversimplified in ways that make me suspect they tend to gloss over the complexities that can be found in other people's businesses. It's almost like they're saying, or at least I'm hearing, "Look - we made this very simple neat looking to-do list - why can't Microsoft make a whole operating system this neat and simple? They must be stupid or something! That's why we rule!"

why is NSX2's comment (sibling of this comment) dead? does anyone else see anything wrong with it? (i'm not saying i agree with it, just i don't see any reason it should be killed)

    No, PG is just jealous of my "arrogance/self-confidence" so every once in a while if I say something people give me points for, he goes on a down-modding binge and cuts my karma in half. If it creeps up again, then eventually I just get sent to the "showdead" group. I will now be starting my 4th account ... kinda funny because if I had all my accounts' karma accumulated sans the 30-40 point downmodding binges, I think I'd be at about 4-500 by now. But the mere thought that I piss him off enough to distract him from more important matters brings me more joy than his downmodding of all my comments sessions will ever bring him, so I persist.

  NSX2 is the latest of several accounts created by a long-time News.YC troll. I don't know why he's obsessed with this site, but he just keeps coming back.

Wow, they must suck then! Thanks for telling me; I'm sure if I got all Magnum P.I. on your nickname, I could figure out what it was 37Signals does to alienate people like you, and thus capture the 0.0001% of the CRM and Project Management software market 37Signals has failed to address.
