Yes thus feels like functional programming and you kind of get this for free using predicates and Haskells lazy evaluation. Infact the list comprehensions are similar and of course what are they... they are sugar for the list monad.

I imagine generating cases for property based testing this could be quite useful. Also solving problems with brute force where effeciency doesnt matter. Eg proving a theorem on you machine but that code doest need to run in production. Or s

This is not disimilar to a child who grows up in a racist environment. Takes a lot of ego, reflection to buck that trend if parents and society in general had a shared and accepted bad idea such as certain races should be slaves.

I think passion is the best heuristic. Otherwise it depends on things we cant know. Will we be invaded by aliens in 1000 years? If so then thats going to change the optimal side project!

Interesting when you put it like that. When I graduated i'd never heard of relo assistance let alone knew how much to ask for. If offered 2k id been very happy.
