The term "dickover" is now approved by the guy who invented "enshittification"! https://pluralistic.net/2026/07/21/dickovers/

That's what I'm doing with a service I made. But I don't have any ads, and ad-supported websites can't easily do that.

I wish modern operating systems were like that: simple, clean, with no wasted space for decorative purposes.

Until I can have all my keys as cleartext in a text file, I won't use passkeys.

Exactly, I always refuse to add a passkey because I'm afraid I won't be able to easily login again. Also, I don't want to be locked in to a vendor.

> Linux is the only oddball here, I had issues getting this flow to work. Take a guess why. Passkeys are just a trick for vendor lock-in disguised as a security practice.

WordPress source code is a mess. They should re-write it from scratch using modern technologies, or even a framework like Laravel.

You just need to start teaching kids the metric system. Then when they'll grow up the switch will almost magically happen by itself.

I can't wait for Europe to come up with an alternative for Visa & Mastercard. European business pay a "hidden" tax to the US on everything, in the form of Visa & Mastercard commissions.

Simply put, Stripe doesn't want to deal with the risk associated with those transaction types.

It hides the banner, so no consent is ever given. Plus, uBlock would block most scripts that place cookies anyway.

Luckily tools such as uBlock Origin let you block all those nasty scripts, _including_ the cookie banner themselves.

Desktop Chromium is Chrome. iOS Chrome is just Safari with a different interface. Apple doesn't let other browsers use their own engine on iOS (unless you are located in the EU).

Apps took off because Apple did everything they could to make PWAs work badly, with no reliable notifications, no access to some data, etc. Apple did that because they want their sweet 30% from in-app purchases, which they couldn't enf

The first version of the .doc format was actually a memory dump, which poses security risks and that's why modern Office refuses to open pre-Office '97 .doc files by default.

Give it a try, Immich is truly wonderful. Rich in features, polished UX, it's now better than Google Photos.

Tesla is more of a technology company than a car company, that's why they managed to make a good UX. Classic car makers are not able to make decent UIs. Plus, each car would be different. So I prefer Android Auto: it's always m

Cyrillic is not a problem for joining the EU. But adopting Latin script would help Ukraine "move away" from Russia even more.

Yes. They have to change a lot of things to better align with Europe, especially if they join the EU. They're already working on moving to the European train gauge, they set Christmas to December 25th, etc. but there's still a l

I'm still mad that Steam stopped producing the hardware Steam Link. The app replacement is garbage (and not because of the app itself, but because of Android and the fact that most TV have garbage hardware). I wish Steam would release
