It's a risk yes, but I've been using it this way for about a year and encountered no problems. I'm thinking of TIMTOWTDI, and that perhaps many people don't know about defadvice.

I did this once... about 4 years ago. I found that I became a very uninteresting person. I worked and had no hobbies. Now I have more stuff, but not so much stuff that it restricts me from hanging out with friends. I think it's more impo

I keep a local copy of old git repos on my harddrive. I backup my harddrive religiously. Provided you don't have giant repos, this works well

For the record, enabling UUIDs in rails is straight forward. It's not the default though. Why turn on UUIDs? They are not as guessable as normal IDs.

the site could use a FAQ. I'm not sure I'd like to give up my address and email and all that, not knowing exactly how the site works first.

pretty cool, but after 7 cards it repeatedly bugs me to register. I'd rather just run through the commands quickly, not register, and not necessarily rate how well I knew them. That said, it did teach me a few new rails commands that I didn

Anecdotally, I got 130 upvotes, and something like 8000 visitors on a recent article posted here ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2597973 ), which is more like 60:1

If you don't like Mac don't use it. I find it to be a good dev platform, however I run prod on ubuntu and am familiar with using ubuntu too. I wouldn't expect my MacBook to solve deployment / sysadmin issues for me.

also disks are cheap, and flac amounts to a digital copy of the physical CD. You could decode it to the original WAV files from the CD if you wanted to
