Using grid like this isn't absolute positioning, we still have implicit sizing and regular document flow. We're just assigning the elements to the same grid area and letting that area be sized by its contents.

I don't know what the intended treatment of the text is, but did you consider using an img element and stacking the text on top of it? What you have is basically just an image element with width: 100 height: auto, but it has children.

This isn't true though. Control + arrow keys for example navigate desktops on MacOS. On Linux I can at least restrict my desktop environment's shortcuts to super, leaving the other mods open for applications. MacOS uses every sin

No, it's old. HTMX is just intercooler.js which has been getting shilled here by the author for the last twelve years and no one wanted anything to do with it then and many want nothing to do with it now.

I always see these takes and I find them completely at odds with my experience. I have rarely seen a non-trivial frontend project that wouldn't benefit from a build step. Going without a buildstep meant remembering the last 2-5 version

That's what service workers are for. This service worker explicitly caches all the resources the app needs to run then intercepts requests for those resources so all the JS that depends on the resources still runs while you're off
