This doesn't matter much, but Saginaw is North/Northwest of Detroit. As someone who grew up in (outside of, but that's the style of Detroit -- no one lives _in_ Detroit) Detroit and takes enormous pride in that fact, it's been funny to see

Not sure I agree. It seems true that a per-site hash would be enough to defeat _just_ the rainbow table services, but I wouldn't want to have the hacker be able find one password and then be able to distinguish what the salt is for everyone

I must say, Facebook does a lot of interesting work. Things that hardcore engineers would definitely enjoy doing. But also things I would hate to support. For instance, I would NEVER want to have to support making a one-off change to MySQL

I've been thinking recently about how it would be cool to have a service which allowed you to try different trading algorithms. For instance, it would have a few algorithms built in, you could choose which you want and with what parameters
