Can’t blame you - self hyped rather sad application that simply kinda sucks - I think I’ve got a lifetime lot of upgrades or something, every time I try it though I feel it’s the same mess of an application.

Quite disappointed to see it only runs on newer macs, especially so as it’s about the same as an app I was using maybe 20 years back ! (Axon idea processor - the only thing I missed about windows!)

When I moved to apple many years ago, I was a big fan of an app that did something very very similar to what Freeform is now doing - now I love the fact that someone’s finally made something that supports this layout of all manner of things

Use a notebook and a pen, make it a nice pen, and it can become a meditative / reflective moment , no concerns on who’s tracking your thoughts , security is all yours , and short of tearing out pages or something similar , it’s fixed,

Moniker.com have a handy online notepad kinda thingy, beware as it auto wiped after a year of inactivity, but that’s fine for most users. I used it lots in the past, mostly when mobile, less so when home or office based.
