Yes, what does that have to do with Android becoming a "proprietary operating system". Web services are integral in a modern smart phone. Google adds their own to Android. Others do as well, for example MicroG, Amazon, MIUI, etc.

Gotta say its pretty awesome! I can do a whole fully functional web app in about a 80kbs JS library(including embedded HTML for fast loading of different views). The sweet thing about Dart is you don't need libraries like Angular or JQ

I think all 6 of those examples are good decisions on Google's part. Google has a heavy stake in making sure the web runs great. Chrome holds a large share of the browser market, but it doesn't control a controlling share. I'

Yea exactly its one of the reasons why I love Android so much. Also the argument that Android isn't actually OSS argument is dumb. If it was closed source how have other companies forked it and successfully released their own variants?

huh I think the poster was referring to just using the platform. Its one of the major reasons I use Android over iOS. You have a huge amount of freedom. There are several key apps I use constantly throughout the day that could not exist on
