It's a very difficult problem, I don't have a solution, I don't know if there is a perfect solution, that doesn't mean that we should go with a really bad idea that will likely have many really dangerous consequences. As

Agree, but in this case I think it might be a positive. I don't want to rely on the morals of Meta. I much prefer for there to be enough pressure to force them into acting morally.

What's most disturbing to me is that these people without any technical knowledge are pushing for these things while largely ignoring expert opinions. Imo it's fine to explore such options as you should consider everything, but ju

I very much agree with this. I think approaching landing pages as storytelling makes them a lot easier to approach and understand (still hard to do well). Everything should be in support of telling the main narrative, while also keeping att

I do think there is something like the uncanny valley effect. The distinction is likely "no design"/minimalism vs "bad design". Some pages show very clearly that the focus was not on designing a good looking appeali

I would focus on the things that cause problems (if there are any), and solve those. Just ignore everything else. The only problem you mention is storage, and as you mention it's pretty easy to solve by just buying more. You could also

I think you might want to dig into what you find unpleasant about them, then see if other people have the same issues and are willing to go through the trouble of changing platforms for it. It will definitely be a huge challenge and I think

This is so true. I would say it applies to all advice. Advice can be great, but you have to understand where it comes from and how/if it applies to your situation.

Maybe the ui should be part of law, just like standardized nutrition labels and similar. Lots of downsides to that of course, but it would deal with all of this crap.

Things have stabilized a bit. I think the the 00's were exceptional on many fronts; Mobile phones went from huge phones to tiny feature packed gadgets, many other cool gadgets came to popularity (mp3 players, wireless headphones, porta

I feel bad for the people who are dealing with this. Quite stressful to manage a disaster like this, especially when it lasts this long. I hope they get a bonus and some time off once this is resolved.

Very impressive. I'm a big fan of companies like this. It looks like you have built a good product, did the right things, didn't fall into the traps, and now have a nice size stable business. Congrats on your success!

Have been remote for quite a few years, even before the pandemic. The things I hate are: Less clear border between work and private time. Not a lot of social interactions. No possibility to go for lunch or have Friday drinks with colleagues

Yes you can, creativity is not a talent, it's a skill. Google "design process". There are some variations, but it's all very similar. Specifically I think you are looking for product design. In a way it does come down to

Is this really a trend? I'm getting very strong neumorphism vibes from it: A contrived trend that never really worked, looked outdated from the start, and never got main stream. The real vs Dribbble ratio of the examples in this post p

I think automatic code formatters have huge impact. Not just to save time on manually formatting code, they also flag syntax errors; if it doesn’t format on save you know something is wrong. In team context they take away all bike shedding
