You are missing the point here. The real point is ownership of data. who owns it? Cloud has its uses. But for personal data you better of keeping it in your control. It is not that difficult.

The device comes with ubuntu 9.04. You can install LAMP from the repository directly if you want to for no cost. The image is meant for people who don't have time to do that.
