If you are American I would recommend “Democracy in America” by Alexis de Tocqueville. Very easy to read and has some really mind opening lines. “Americans are cartesians without ever having read Descartes” still sticks with me to this day

Totally agree. The other dimension that folks often overlook is the choice of what to fact-check. Droves of fact checkers that only ever check one side of an argument still present a bias.
