Google is really an engineering company. SO they dont emphasize design as much as you might. Which is good because they have some cool projects but bad in that theyre applications tend to be really ugly.

Ive been going through the same issue and unfortunately there isnt a clear cut answer. Initially i was looking at phonegap, titanium and rhomobile. The problem with them is each has pros and cons and its very confusing to really understan

It really depends what your looking to do. I use Rails and php depending on the project. I would say actually its best to focus on frameworks and Rails is probably one of the better ones out there these days. Django is also interesting.

Why do they use js for the client side logic? Cant they use ruby? I know phonegap appelarator and rhomobile allow for this with rhomobile but all ruby. As im playing around with mobile applicaitons more im finding managing the javascript

I meant do they use a specific framework. My understanding was that GWT was created out of the work they were doing with gmail which is why all of the samples for GWT look like gmail.

The problem with OpenLaszlo is that while apparently its actively developed i rarely hear about anybody using it. It seems to have had its hayday years ago and now is used only by a very few projects.
