TN visa is employer-specific. They cannot work with your company while under another employer's TN visa. Although the TN visa has no minimum salary requirement, I doubt the application would be approved with no salary.

You're right. However, I'd rather have myself as a single point of failure (for OS and VS Code server) than another individual. Keep in mind that you're also trusting an individual with your codebase.
