Yes, of course this is true but the tooling ecosystem still hasn't made great strides over to Linux. Rider does exist but is not open source. As far as I know the debugger is not open source as well.

Bonus points for using the same tooling and languages from then too. 6502 assembly, then a bit of 16 bit x86 assembly, and finally some C with Borland's 1992 tooling.

1. The same thing we do with Raspberry Pi's 2. Retro gaming / retro development, which given the age of something often means C or C++. 3. If things are really broken, e-waste is probably the only option.

Aren't C projects relatively easy to build? C++ is a little more complicated, so there is more of a push for header only libraries there. I see the problem is probably with external libraries, but that is largely not a huge problem on

What scenario are you talking about, or what does VS Code have to do with anything? Did you mean running VS Code on a remote server and forwarding it to the local machine? X11 based forwarding?

In reality it's not really like that. Yes different shops are going to be using different C++ features in different ways but they usually share some common "core" of the language.

Cisco Webex is a repeat offender. The experience is much better in Chromium. If I am using Firefox I have to dial in to a meeting using my phone instead of being able to use my USB headset.
