Yeah, remember when 4 core 8 threads were the high-end CPUs until AMD Ryzen came out? If AMD didn't do their best job then we're still stuck with the norm of 4 cores for more years as I can imagine.

You’re lucky that you had a choice. The security policy in my company forces our laptop to be up to date no matter what. You can resist to update for some time but then they’ll force update through management system and sometime it happens

It’s always the corporate wares that caused the issues, in my case it’s crowdstrike and zscaler. Even with these wares I can last a full day with my M1 pro, I only notice the battery was drained to 0 once when I went to vacation for a week,
