Metrics are useless in my experience for figuring out a problem. For the most part they only tell you that you have a problem. Being able to slice and dice logs that you have faith in is critical in my experience.

I haven't got any personal experience of them but aren't there a number of Raspberry Pi clones which offer the same functionality at much lower cost? Seems like that would open the gap up.

I find it quite interesting that we're beyond the point of having an Intel processor being a massive advantage. I think 10 years ago most people would have jumped at an x86 processor with similar specs to the equivalent Raspberry Pi.

I had a play with Dart a while back. It felt like Python with types designed in from the outset. Would quite like to use it more seriously. It's in that funny position though where it is in danger of becoming synonymous with Flutter. L

If you are at an airport you will sometimes notice large signs giving Longitude and Latitude of the individual stands at an airport. These are used to give the initial position to the INS via the FMS. Of course these are now all built into

Same. A pirate copy of VB6 and a download of some website which gave a reasonable introduction of how to do things. I remember doing things like using the Win32 API to get DMA to images so I could do pixel perfect collision detection betwee

As a British person this is always so alien when traveling in the US. You could go one step further and suggest that perhaps tips which are practically mandatory should be included in the headline price but that might be a step too far.

LLMs really help me with the blank page problem. Just getting something, even partially working, to built upon can be a huge win.

Yeah, someone did that at a place I once worked with the C-word in some JavaScript debug logs. Never put anything in the code, no matter how temporary, that you would be embarrassed to have appear to a customer.

I've never worked in food service. I did however do plenty of minimum wage retail type jobs and only occasionally got a tip, often for lifting something heavy for an older customer. Why is food service any different?

In fairness to her - this wasn't a drive by attack. She was in the process of applying for the benefit that the site claimed to be part of. To my mind this is either a complex technical attack, or more likely perhaps, an inside job. Th

France built out a huge number of Nuclear reactors in the 80s. Some 70% of it's electricity comes from Nuclear. Nuclear has a very low marginal cost so when it's up and running you want to run it at full power as much as possible.

Not your customer, just a random person on the Internet, but I hope you can see that a lot of that is through luck more than judgement. I personally would have like to see a bit more contrition rather than trying to minimise the issue.
