If you suddenly went from a 30% to 40% tax rate, couldn't you imagine working more to make up the difference? There is a lot of social pressure to maintain lifestyle. American wages have stagnated since the 70s and people are working l

Why would you assume that? I did add the word "any" in case you thought I was saying libertarians in general support BI.

I'm baffled why any libertarians support basic income. It's basic wealth redistribution. It's forcing those who work to financially support those who don't work at threat of jail time.

Nobody chooses which family he/she is born into, and nobody ever will. Each of us is randomly awakened, empty and dumb, on this Earth into a specific family and community outside our choosing, with its own mentors and values. This grou

Voodoo.js - a Javascript library to integrate 3d controls seamlessly into 2d pages, and be able to mix them with other peoples 3d controls. You get a nifty parallax effect, too. Its all open source, and IMO the best option if you want non-i

You don't need it, until you do. Several developer tools I use regularly eat up that memory like nothing when you run in certain modes. Development shouldn't feel like working on an airplane tray table.

But if you were broadcasting location and velocity at all times, even if an aircraft lost power, you could project where the "unplanned water landing" would occur. That seems helpful. I wonder if Google's Project Loon [1] wou

Yes in some cases, like software, I agree that positive motivation naturally exists. Negative motivation may also naturally exist. For example, if you enjoy your work, and the work is desirable, you'll be anxious about losing it. Howev

Seems like it could be a great move, but it raises some questions. Given Microsoft's perspective, they know they need to increase Windows Phone share. The iPhone is on its way to become a niche device, so I doubt they would look to App

This is great. I also don't like when 3D is gimmicky, but I think a lot of that is because we haven't explore 3D design as much as 2D design. It's young. If 3D takes off like it has for movies and games, think of all the new

I 2nd this. Wouldn't it be great if nonviolent strategies for change were required learning in secondary schools? Not just history lesson facts like Ghandi did X and Martin Luther King did Y, but a real education about power in society
