Thanks for sharing your story Alona. That was very brave of you given the rampant racism and sexism currently plaguing the tech space.

  Not sure why you're getting downvoted. Anecdotally and in my area I can confirm racism and sexism (usually in the form of "harmless jokes") is pretty rampant in tech.

    I think the downvotes are due to the fact that we haven't seen any evidence of actual racism or sexism in the tech industry. We see lots of stories like this where it seems open to interpretation. And yes, I myself have some personal experience of real racism. If this is the worst that is happening in the tech space then things are pretty good. Anyway, this is an important topic, so if you do have any experiences with racism/sexism it would be good to write an article or blog post about it.
