Disclosure: I am the maintainer of https://github.com/t-d-k/LibreCrypt https://github.com/t-d-k/LibreCrypt You are correct, cascaded cyphers don't increase security except in exceptional circumstances, and can decrease security if wrongly implemented. But LibreCrypt doesn’t actually support cascaded cyphers, so the point is moot.
