Nooooo! The SMS notifications are a pro-hack, lifesaver, and overlooked feature. I get entirely too many push notifications on my lock screen, and don't check my calendar app habitually. SMS notifications get read every time. (60% of the time, it works every time.) Sounds like a weekend project to roll a Twilio solution. The cost is well worth it for me.
