I set up my first rails app on Linode about 5 years ago and used to scoff at people that went the "easy" route with Heroku. Now I'm using Heroku and wonder why

I set up my first rails app on Linode about 5 years ago and used to scoff at people that went the "easy" route with Heroku. Now I'm using Heroku and wonder why I wasted so much time before worrying about disk space, permissions, rotating logs, etc. I definitely get it now.
