In response to some of the comments here regarding graduate students being taken advantage of...I don't get it. I fully understand an undergrad paying a lot of money for a degree with a course of study that will not allow them to find a good job. In that case, you are talking about people making a decision with no college experience at the age of 18. In the case of graduate students you are talking about 22+ year olds that have already gone through the higher education process. I honestly don't see how someone can start working towards a PhD in their 20s and not see the potentially grim prospects of a career in academia. The only exception I would make is international students that didn't do undergrad in the country of their graduate studies.
