I filed a patent at age 16; there are no laws governing how old you must be to file, and rightfully so. While you may stereotype young people as being unready to write and file patents--and perhaps many are--at least some have developed the right skills and technical knowledge to do so. Judge the patents on their own merits, not their authors.
