Think of the power of confirmation bias next time you loudly proclaim there's scientific proof about something.
Usually it takes hundreds and thousands of experiments to really prove something conclusively, because science is affected by culture and fashions like any other field of endeavor.
Most scientists are singularly focused on trying to prove the theory of the day. And if you look hard enough for evidence, you'll find your evidence.
- gliptic 12y agoNo scientist has claimed that BICEP2 has proven anything and there's no such thing as "scientific proof". Here we have the group itself admitting that the conclusion is no longer as strong as it was. What are you actually trying to say?

- snowwrestler 12y agoI downvoted not because it's unreasonable, but because it is a generic comment that carries no content of any particular relevance to the story at hand. It could be posted under almost any science story and it would be just as relevant.
- mreiland 12y agoThe idea that scientists are human with their own bias isn't relevant in a thread about a scientific claim that the scientists have started backing off of once more examination occured? No, you downvoted because you're a dumbass, you're rationalizing because you don't want to feel like a dumbass.
- snowwrestler 12y agoThe fact that scientists are human beings is so obvious and banal that it adds nothing to the discussion of this particular experiment.
