  this was the only thing i could think throughout the whole article. of course it makes no practical or moral sense to discuss after the fact, and his tale is both cautionary and oddly inspiring; but ultimately the entire situation could have been side-stepped with a bit of family planning. it definitely has a parallel, if even less acknowledged, in the wider world.
