If he would've said black instead of white or dudette instead of dude, Hacker News would have had this guy's header on a platter. Racists, the lot of you.
- moomin 13y agoNope, he's asserting that the founders come from privileged groups. Punching up is acceptable, punching down is not.
- Camillo 13y agoWhat about the young white dudes who are unemployed, or work in menial jobs, or dropped out of school and joined the army because they suddenly had to support a child, etc.? Do they deserve to be vilified because there is someone else who is successful and happens to be the same color and sex?
- icebraining 13y agoHow are they being vilified?
- Camillo 13y agoBy having "white guy" treated as an insult, obviously.
- specialist 13y agoGreat metaphor. Stealing it. Thanks.
- moomin 13y agoThanks, but not mine. :) I think this may be the original: http://reasonableconversation.wordpress.com/2012/07/19/punching-up/ http://reasonableconversation.wordpress.com/2012/07/19/punch...
- sp332 13y agoYou might have the category wrong. It's making fun of founders for being casually ageist and racist. Or to be more specific, privileged and oblivious.
