Two quibbles: 1. We aren't "giving up" liberty, it's being taken. 2. It isn't for the purpose "to fight terror". Case in point, me. I have done absolutely nothing wrong, but (symmetrically) 1. I am having my liberties taken. 2. I am not a terrorist in any sense of the word. I suggest it is the odd framing the story that makes it seem irrational.
