I like the Macbook Air except for the glare type display. And im not sure how well it supports linux. Currently i think about buying one of the sony vgn-z notebooks. Any expriences with these?

There is an ~$50 filter which sticks to the Air's display, converting it into an approximately normal (non-glossy) one.
