Another example of this can be seen in the Web Speech API (http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/demos/speech.html http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/demos/speech.html). You will need Chrome Canary in order to test.
I'm currently building a voice-to-text transcriber using the Web Speech API.
