I just tested this on my Nexus 4 and it reproduced. I guess I now praise the iPad.

  If you look at comment 11 [1] in the article, it points to [2] as being the source of the TTS hiccup. It also points out that speaking the phrase "filled with" spits out the rest of the text [3].
