Access to AI isn't a right (yet). Anthropic can choose who to sell it to, and if that's not you then bad luck. They don't need a right to do that; they can just do it because it's their product and they get to say who can buy it.
This is a reason why local open weights models are important. No one is taking Gemma 4B away from me, because I run it on my own hardware.
- pendenthistory 4d agoIt's not a right, but I think discrimination in the use of AI is a big problem when without AI you are completely unable to compete in the future. If for whatever reason both OpenAI and Anthropic decides to ban you, and open source hasn't caught up, you are at a severe disadvantage compared to others.
