I meant "easy for a non technical person to use". Things like limewire were dead easy back in the beginning. The isps were not paying attention, so you did not need a VPN, there was no setup or anything it worked right after you downloaded it. So it spread in a socially viral like way very quickly. And was being used by fairly non-technical people without assistance.

insert linkin park-numb.exe meme Jokes aside, luckily for me, I live in a country where torrenting isn't illegal at all and frankly, everyone working for the public sector is too incompetent to do anything about it, even if it were. For example, I know a guy who was taken for investigation cause something dodgy happened from his IP (he hosted a tor exit node) and the investigators had their brains blown when he showed them that tor exit nodes were public information cause they had no idea. At that moment he said "guys, are my taxes seriously going towards your salaries?". At that point they just gave up and send him off.
