It's such a shame for iPhone users that they can't install whatever apps they want. Especially with AI now if I was using an iPhone I'd want to be able to use apps for personal use without paying apple or refreshing every week.
- rpdillon 7d agoYeah, I'm on Android and I have F-Droid for the time being, and I'm planning to register myself as a power user, but I think the writing is on the wall and the mobile ecosystems. My side projects that I've been building are now easily self-hosted web apps that do common functionality that I care about, so I don't have to be beholden to the app stores. I wish this were a more widely scalable solution, because self-hosting still isn't as easy as just installing an app, even though perhaps it could be.
