The demo of the woman at the train station listening to a concert promoter in Spanish, taking a flyer, saying “thank you” in English and walking away came off as quite geocentric.
- Jtsummers 7d ago> came off as quite geocentric Did you mean to use another word here? I mean, the vast majority of people are still on Earth so many things are geocentric and that's rarely considered a problem.
- embedding-shape 7d ago> Did you mean to use another word here? Hazarding a guess at egocentric considering it's just two characters next to each other swapped, and happens to fit.
- xattt 7d agoI am mortified. I was going for something along the lines of ethnocentric. Thank you :)
- Jtsummers 7d agoStopping to listen to someone is not very egocentric. Without the headphones (in the scenario) she would have just ignored him or politely declined the flyer. So either way, wrong word.
- ValentineC 5d agoI'd have expected some gesturing to the AirPods or to a phone, and not assuming that the flyer person would know that those magical earbuds would translate everything he said.
- dullcrisp 7d agoThey’re making an oblique reference to Pope Urban VIII.
- Caracas288 7d agoYeah, they're always leaving the Martians out!
